The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved Adapteo Group’s near-term and net-zero science-based targets. This makes Adapteo one of the first companies in its sector with validated targets aligned with the 1.5°C pathway.

Science-based targets provide a clearly defined pathway for companies to reduce GHG emissions and limit the catastrophic risks of climate change, such as heatwaves, flooding, biodiversity loss and food insecurity. Corporate targets are considered “science-based” when aligned with what the latest climate science deems necessary to counter these effects.

Adapteo’s targets are a full ten years ahead of the goals set by the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change, which aims to limit global warming to 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels.

Dr. Lina K Wiles, Adapteo’s Chief Sustainability Officer, says: “Having our net-zero, science-based targets approved by SBTi is a milestone that we are very proud of. It underscores the strength of our Space-as-a-Service model: by designing modules to be reused, adapted, and repurposed, we lower both operational and embodied greenhouse gas emissions while meeting society’s evolving needs for schools, offices, accommodation, and community spaces.”

Johanna Persson, CEO and President of Adapteo Group, adds: “We are proud to be among the first in our sector to have our net-zero targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative. This milestone reflects our commitment to building adaptable spaces that meet today’s needs while protecting the climate for generations to come. In an industry where change can be slow, Adapteo is proving that sustainability and business excellence go hand in hand.”

SBTi validation is an independent confirmation that Adapteo’s targets are credible, measurable, and aligned with the global 1.5°C pathway. By setting a net-zero target for 2040, a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement’s global timeline, Adapteo is not only addressing today’s climate urgency but also preparing for the realities of tomorrow.

For Adapteo, the approval highlights the strength of its circular, modular model, where reusing and adapting spaces reduces both operational and embodied emissions. This approach positions the company to meet changing societal needs for schools, offices, accommodation, and community spaces while advancing the low-carbon transition.
