Our history

Adapteo was formed in 2019, but our story began much earlier. Our roots go back to the Nordic region in the 1950s, and over the decades we have grown by bringing together experienced modular building companies across Northern and Central Europe.

The milestones of Adapteo's journey

1950s to 1980s

Adapteo’s roots go back to the Nordic region in the 1950s, with parts of our history beginning in both Finland and Sweden. In Finland, our story is connected to Cramo, while in Sweden it traces back to Oresjö Fabriker, founded in 1956 and later known as Flexator.

Over the following decades, demand for flexible buildings grew across the Nordics. Modular solutions became an important way to create space quickly and efficiently for changing needs in society.

In 1984, Malmros Instant Office was established in Sweden. It later became part of Cramo Group and contributed to the development of Cramo’s modular business.

1990s to 2000s

In the 1990s, the business continued to develop across the Nordic region. Oresjö Fabriker changed its name to Sektionsbyggarna and later to Flexator.

Temporent was established as part of Skanska Group and entered the Danish market in 1995, adding more local expertise and strengthening the foundation of what would later become part of Adapteo.

In 2006, Nordic Modular Group was formed with Temporent and Flexator as subsidiaries, bringing together knowledge and experience from several modular building companies.

2010s

The Adapteo name

The 2010s marked a new chapter in our history. This was when the Adapteo name was introduced and the business grew across several European markets.

Cramo introduced Cramo Adapteo in 2014 as a sub-brand for its flexible real estate business. In the years that followed, the business grew through the acquisition of several experienced modular building companies in the Nordics and Europe.

2019

Adapteo became an independent company following the demerger of Cramo’s modular space business. This brought decades of modular building experience together under one name, with a clear focus on modular buildings for changing needs.

In 2019, Adapteo was listed on Nasdaq.

2020s

The 2020s have continued to shape Adapteo into the company we are today. We have grown our presence in Northern and Central Europe, added new expertise and strengthened our ability to support customers with modular buildings across different markets.

2020

Adapteo acquired Dutch Cabin Group in 2020, which strengthened our presence in the Netherlands and Central Europe.

2021

In 2021, Goldman Sachs became Adapteo Group’s owner. The same year, Adapteo acquired Stord Innkvartering in Norway and Ajos in Denmark, adding further experience in accommodation and modular buildings.

2024

Our growth continued in Denmark in 2024, when Adapteo acquired Jytas, expanding our capacity and strengthening our position in modular buildings.
