Market growth trends and drivers

The market for rental and sales of adaptable buildings has shown strong historic growth. Mid-term, growth of both the rental and sales markets is expected to be supported by structural demand drivers and trends. This includes population growth and urbanization, demographic trends such as an increased number of children in school and daycare centers, a growing elderly population, aging building stock, renovation needs, and higher penetration of adaptable buildings.

Population growth and urbanization

Population growth and urbanization create opportunities for both rental and permanent adaptable buildings. In large cities, where space can be difficult to acquire, adaptable buildings can be used to handle sudden increases in demand requiring a fast solution. The effects of urbanization especially concern the providers of daycare centers and school properties, as those moving to cities are often young people or families. Adaptable buildings can be used to “buy time” in complex decision-making processes for permanent long-term solutions.

Demographic trends creating the need for adaptable buildings

A growing number of children and a rapidly aging population create significant opportunities for our adaptable buildings. Municipalities and other public entities have a legal obligation to deliver space for daycare centers and school facilities. This, in combination with urbanization, creates an urgent need for extra capacity, which favors adaptable building solutions with fast and predictable delivery.

An aging population in Europe is resulting in a lasting and somewhat predictable increase in demand for space, providing opportunities for the elderly care market segment.
