Across Ukraine, in the constant conflict and uncertainty, firefighters are performing acts of heroism every day. Yet, their ability to respond is severely hindered—not only by ongoing dangers but by damaged or destroyed infrastructure. Recognizing that behind every effective response is a secure, stable base, the Storstockholms brandförsvar (Greater Stockholm Fire Department), primary initiators of this round's donations, MSB (Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency), and Adapteo have partnered in an ambitious project: providing 80 adaptable modular units to serve as emergency fire stations.

Peter Arnevall, Chief Executive of Storstockholms brandförsvar, captures the urgency: “Supporting Ukraine has been a priority since day one. When we heard directly from Ukraine’s emergency responders about the immense obstacles they face—particularly in regions like Donetsk, where more than half the fire stations no longer exist—we knew action had to be immediate and practical.”

Johanna Persson, CEO of Adapteo, adds: “Our ongoing commitment is driven by a simple belief—space matters, especially in times of crisis. By extending our support, we aim to empower Ukraine’s frontline responders in their critical work and help communities regain stability..”

Picture it this way: these 80 modular units together form 3,300 square meters of needed operational space. That’s nearly half the size of a football field—space that allows firefighters to coordinate effectively, store vital equipment safely, and respond quicker in emergencies, directly impacting their ability to save lives.

But the story doesn’t start here. It began months earlier with an initial donation of 68 modular homes to Ukrainian families displaced by the conflict, already delivering more than 2,722 square meters of living space to those in need. Now, with this latest donation we have delivered a combined total of 148 modules—more than 6,000 square meters of crucial space that meets both housing and emergency response needs.

We see modular buildings quietly becoming powerful symbols of resilience, adaptability, and hope. By bridging critical gaps in infrastructure, these modules support communities and help rebuild confidence in the most uncertain times.
